Boknyheter #16

Andre aktiviteter inkluderer bok-bordtennis.

– Som svar til ei liste over 10 morsomme bøker alle kvinner bør lese i 20-årene, kommer ei liste over 20 litt mer seriøse bøker her.

– Her er de nominerte til UPrisen 2013:
* Ellen Fjestad: Sammen skal vi holde himmelen
* Magne Hovden: Åndejegerne
* Marianne Kaurin: Nærmere høst
* Lars Mæhle: Fuck Off I Love You
* Arne Svingen og Helene Uri: Din vakre jævel

Her finner du 10 skjønnlitterære brettspill. Her finnes alt fra Pride and Prejudice og 1984: Animal Farm til Moby Dick og A Christmas Carol.

Her kan du se hvordan Victor Hugos Les Miserables ser ut i forskjellige typer grafer.

The story OF this book might actually be more interesting than the story IN it. The Norwegian novel "The Song of the Red Ruby" from 1956 presents the story of the young man Ask Burlefot and his journey through shame and disappointment towards "a deeper understanding of himself." But the novel's sexually explicit descriptions actually landed both the author, Agnar Mykle, and his publisher, Gyldendal, in court. The case is known as the Mykle case. The book initially received pretty favourable reviews, but some thought the contents were pornographic, filthy and obscene. This eventually led to the book being confiscated on a court order, and the author and Gyldendal's managing director was on trial for writing and spreading obscene material (which was illegal at the time). They were both eventually acquitted, but all of the books were removed from the market. The decision to withdraw the books was overturned by the supreme court the next year. Although they won the case, the court case and the intense media attention weighed heavily on Agnar Mykle, turning him into a recluse who almost exclusively spent time with only the closest friends and family. His writing took a serious hit as well. The Song of the Red Ruby is actually the second book in a trilogy, the first one ("Lasso Around the Moon") was published in 1954. It would take 9 years before he finished the trilogy with "Rubicon" in 1965. No pictures were published of him after 1957. It's hard to imagine today, for a Scandinavian at least, that something like this could happen, but it did. And it's not even that long ago!
Into the Wild tells the true story of Chris McCandless, a young man from a privileged family who one day decided to get rid of everything he owned and set off alone into the Alaskan wilds. Four months later he was found starved to death. You may have seen the movie with the same title. I did, years ago, and the story seems to have stuck with me. So I finally decided to pick up the book. #intothewild #chrismccandless #christophermccandless #jonkrakauer #alaska #book #bok #bøker #litteratur #literature #nonfiction #sakprosa #newbook #bookhaul #bookstagrammers #bookstagram #booksofinstagram #lesetips #bokelsker #lesehest #bokorm #bookworm #instabook #bookish
Inn i naturen: 101 norske dikt is a collection of Norwegian poems relating to nature, and it is divided into seasons. I like that there are both old and familiar classics and new poems I've never read before. Also say hello to my snake plant. #inninaturen #samlaget #dikt #poetry #poems #snakeplant #svigemorstunge #julieholdalhansen #eirikvassenden #litteratur #literature #bookish #bookstagram #instabook #booknerd #bookcoverlove #coverlove #bok #book #bøker #bookstagrammers #bookhaul #newbook
You know what I like? Cephalopods. They are so wonderfully alien and intelligent (have you seen the Australian one who actually climbs on land to cross between bodies of water?). I like the giant squid in the lake outside of Hogwarts. I like the kraken. I like cthulhu and the other lovecraftian old gods. Here are three books about cephalopods that I'm looking forward to reading: Squid Empire by Danna Staaf, The Soul of an Octopus by Sy Montgomery and Other Minds by Peter Godfrey-Smith. 🐙🦑 #squidempire #dannastaaf #thesoulofanoctopus #symontgomery #otherminds #petergodfreysmith #cephalopod #tentacle #octopus #squid #aloevera #plantporn #seamonster #cthulhu #kraken #giantsquid #bok #book #litteratur #literature #bookish #bookstagram #instabook #booknerd #bookcoverlove #coverlove #booksofinstagram #bookworm #bookporn
Currently reading a book that I don't think has been translated to English yet? The author is Swedish, and the title roughly translates to Men show me their dick. It's about dickpics and the men who send them, and the discrepancy between what men feel when they're sending them and women feel when they receive them. Like the cover says: Everything about dickpics - except pictures. #mennviserframpikkensin #mänvisarkukenförmig #carolinehainer #book #currentlyreading #newbook #bookhaul #bookstagram #bookstagrammers #instabook #bookish #booksofinstagram #bookworm #bokorm #feminisme #feminism #nonfiction #sakprosa #plantporn #bookporn #cactus
I was drawn in by the cover and the title on this one! 🥰 The Monsters We Deserve by Marcus Sedgwick. Apparently it's an 'ambitious and original take on the gothic'. An author in a remote house broods over Mary Shelley's Frankenstein... Yesterday was #freecomicbookday, and Outland, my local geeky store, also offered 20% off all other comic books and graphic novels. This is one of the ones I picked up at a discount! "Shuri vol 1: The Search For Black Panther" is written by Nnedi Okorafor and illustrated by Leonardo Romero and Jordie Bellaire. #shuri #nnediokorafor #leonardoromero #jordiebellaire #blackpanther #wakanda #comicbook #comics #graphicnovel #litteratur #literature #bookstagram #bookstagrammers #instabook #bookish #booksofinstagram #bookworm #aesthetic #booknerd #coffeeporn #plantporn #bookporn #marvel

New book! The Hunger by Alma Katsu is based on a true story, and according to Stephen King's blurb on the cover, it's 'Deeply, deeply disturbing'. . About the book: Evil is invisible, and it is everywhere. Tamsen Donner must be a witch. That is the only way to explain the series of misfortunes that have plagued the wagon train known as the Donner Party. Depleted rations, bitter quarrels, and the mysterious death of a little boy have driven the pioneers to the brink of madness. They cannot escape the feeling that someone--or something--is stalking them. Whether it was a curse from the beautiful Tamsen, the choice to follow a disastrous experimental route West, or just plain bad luck--the 90 men, women, and children of the Donner Party are at the brink of one of the deadliest and most disastrous western adventures in American history. While the ill-fated group struggles to survive in the treacherous mountain conditions--searing heat that turns the sand into bubbling stew; snows that freeze the oxen where they stand--evil begins to grow around them, and within them. As members of the party begin to disappear, they must ask themselves "What if there is something waiting in the mountains? Something disturbing and diseased...and very hungry?" . #thehunger #AlmaKatsu #newbook #bookhaul #horror #skrekk #litteratur #literature #bookish #bookstagram #instabook #booknerd #bookcoverlove #lesetips #nrklesetips #nrkbok #lesehest #bokorm #bookworm #plant #succulent #ilovebooks #bookporn
I love this cover! 🥰 And the plot seems very interesting, too. About the book: Britain has lost the Falklands war, Margaret Thatcher battles Tony Benn for power and Alan Turing achieves a breakthrough in artificial intelligence. In a world not quite like this one, two lovers will be tested beyond their understanding. Machines Like Me occurs in an alternative 1980s London. Charlie, drifting through life and dodging full-time employment, is in love with Miranda, a bright student who lives with a terrible secret. When Charlie comes into money, he buys Adam, one of the first batch of synthetic humans. With Miranda’s assistance, he co-designs Adam’s personality. This near-perfect human is beautiful, strong and clever – a love triangle soon forms. These three beings will confront a profound moral dilemma. Ian McEwan’s subversive and entertaining new novel poses fundamental questions: what makes us human? Our outward deeds or our inner lives? Could a machine understand the human heart? This provocative and thrilling tale warns of the power to invent things beyond our control. #machineslikeme #ianmcewan #alternativehistory #sciencefiction #scifi #newbook #litteratur #literature #bookish #bookstagram #instabook #booknerd #bookcoverlove #coverlove #bokelsker #booklover #lesetips #nrklesetips #boktips #lesehest #bokorm #bookworm #bookporn #coffeeporn
