I recently turned 30 (yay!), and got a very cool present from @kavehrashidi and @ainahaugr. They went to the coolest bookstore in Oslo (@tronsmobok of course) and picked up Sakiko Nomura: Ango, which is signed by the way. They also gave me a cutting from one of their plants, which I will try not to kill. The best way to explain this book is to just copy what the publisher says: A collaboration between graphic designer Satoshi Machiguchi and Japanese photographer Sakiko Nomura. “Sakiko Nomura: Ango” is part of a literary project by publisher and graphic designer Satoshi Machiguchi. In the space of a book, photographs by contemporary Japanese artists meet with works of Japanese literature to form a new kind of expression. After collaborating with Daido Moriyama for the first three entries in the series, Machiguchi decided to work with Sakiko Nomura for this fourth and latest issue. Sakiko Nomura’s stunning, sensual photographs interact with the 1946 short-story “The War and a Woman” by Ango Sakaguchi. Sakaguchi’s powerful story, heavily censored by the American authorities at the time of its release, describes a brutal and remorseless image of the crushing force that is war. Nomura’s images and Sakaguchi’s words interact to draw out new nuances in each other. Thank you! ❤ #bok #bøker #litteratur #literature #lesehest #bokorm #bookworm #sakikonomura #ango #angosakaguchi #art #lesetips #nrklesetips #bookish #instabook #bookstagram #instabook #art #kunst #tronsmo #stikling #japan #bookcoverlove #coverlove
There is this bookshelf at work, where several of us leave and pick up books. And pretty much everyone has been raving about the Icelandic author Yrsa Sigurđardóttir. So I brought one of her books home over the holidays, English title: The Undesired. Original title Kuldi. I was not blown away by it. But I liked it enough to give another one of her books a try, so I'm currently listening to the audio version of Dragsug (original title: Sogiđ), English title The Reckoning. Have you read any of her books? #books #bøker #bok #book #litteratur #literature #crime #krim #nordicnoir #yrsasigurdardottir #yrsasigurðardóttir #kuldi #deuønskede #theundesired #sogiđ #thereckoning #dragsug #kagge #bookstagram #instabook #bookish #coffee #bookporn #coffeeporn #read #reader

I bought a new book. 🙃 Norma by Sofi Oksanen. About: When Anita Naakka jumps in front of an oncoming train, her daughter, Norma, is left alone with the secret they have spent their lives hiding: Norma has supernatural hair, sensitive to the slightest changes in her mood–and the moods of those around her–moving of its own accord, corkscrewing when danger is near. And so it is her hair that alerts her, while she talks with a strange man at her mother’s funeral, that her mother may not have taken her own life. Setting out to reconstruct Anita’s final months–sifting through puzzling cell phone records, bank statements, video files–Norma begins to realize that her mother knew more about her hair’s powers than she let on: a sinister truth beyond Norma’s imagining. As Sofi Oksanen leads us ever more deeply into Norma’s world, weaving together past and present, she gives us a dark family drama that is a searing portrait of both the exploitation of women’s bodies and the extremes to which people will go for the sake of beauty. #norma #sofioksanen #books #book #bøker #litteratur #literature #lesehest #bokorm #bookworm #lesetips #nrklesetips #bookish #instabook #bookstagram #newbook #bookhaul
New book! Binti by Nnedi Okorafor. Looking forward to reading this one. About the book: Her name is Binti, and she is the first of the Himba people ever to be offered a place at Oomza University, the finest institution of higher learning in the galaxy. But to accept the offer will mean giving up her place in her family to travel between the stars among strangers who do not share her ways or respect her customs. Knowledge comes at a cost, one that Binti is willing to pay, but her journey will not be easy. The world she seeks to enter has long warred with the Meduse, an alien race that has become the stuff of nightmares. Oomza University has wronged the Meduse, and Binti's stellar travel will bring her within their deadly reach. If Binti hopes to survive the legacy of a war not of her making, she will need both the gifts of her people and the wisdom enshrined within the University, itself - but first she has to make it there, alive. #newbook #bookhaul #binti #nnediokorafor #sciencefiction #scifi #litteratur #literature #bokorm #bookworm #lesehest #lesetips #nrklesetips #bookstagram #instabook #bookish #bookcoverlove #coverlove #book #bok #bøker #books

My friend wrote a book. About the anus, no less. I fjor fleipet jeg og @kavehrashidi om trenden med rimetitler på popvitenskapelige medisinske bøker. Jeg foreslo at han burde skrive Manus om anus. Han fikk med seg @dr.bergland på laget, og her er resultatet. 🙃😅 #manusomanus #kavehrashidi #jonaskingebergland #bøker #books #litteratur #literature #book #lesetips #nrklesetips #nybok #newbook #bookstagram #instabook #bookish #bookworm #bokorm #lesehest #bookhaul #sakprosa #humor #popvitenskap #gyldendal
