It all waits to be discovered in «Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children», an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children who once lived here – one of whom was his own grandfather – were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a desolate island for good reason. And somehow – impossible though it seems – they may still be alive. A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography, «Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children» will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.

Enclave av Ann Aguirre
Sjanger: Dystopi (YA)
Forlag: Feiwel & Friends
ISBN: 9780312650087

New York City has been decimated by war and plague, and most of civilization has migrated to underground enclaves, where life expectancy is no more than the early 20’s. When Deuce turns 15, she takes on her role as a Huntress, and is paired with Fade, a teenage Hunter who lived Topside as a young boy. When she and Fade discover that the neighboring enclave has been decimated by the tunnel monsters—or Freaks—who seem to be growing more organized, the elders refuse to listen to warnings. And when Deuce and Fade are exiled from the enclave, the girl born in darkness must survive in daylight, in the ruins of a city whose population has dwindled to a few dangerous gangs. As the two are guided by Fade’s long-ago memories, they face dangers, and feelings, unlike any they’ve ever known.

Threatened both personally and professionally, brilliant psychotherapist Atsuko Chiba has to journey into the world of fantasy to fight her mysterious opponents.
As she delves ever deeper into the imagination, the borderline between dream and reality becomes increasingly blurred, and nightmares begin to leak into the everyday realm. Salmonella Men on Planet Porno av Yusataka Tsutsui
Sjanger: Novellesamling
Forlag: Alma Books Ltd
ISBN: 9781846880681

Defying the commonly held perceptions of time and space, and escaping any easy classifications, Yasutaka Tsutsui’s stories centre on the folly of human desire. Most of his characters suffer awful fates as a result of their own foolishness, which usually takes the form of greed, lust or vanity. With influences as diverse as Darwin, Freud and the Marx Brothers, his writing displays a mixture of pathos, slapstick and psychological insight, shot through with bolts of Kafkaesque inventiveness. Tsutsui’s quirky imagination, and his ability to construct new and striking realities, threaded with a dark-edged, menacing humour, make him a truly unique literary voice, and ensure that Salmonella Men on Planet Porno is hard to put down and impossible to forget.

Den Forsvunne Domprost av Agatha Christie
Sjanger: Krim
Forlag: Aschehoug
ISBN: 9788203216268

Say no more.

Hvilke fag tar du i år?

The League of Regrettable Superheroes by Jon Morris is a fun look at superheroes who never made it into the big leagues. Some of them missed their chance simply because they just vanished in the crowd, but others were downright weird. Ever heard of Doll Man? Jigsaw? Fatman the Human Flying Saucer..? #bøker #books #bok #reading #lesehest #bokorm #bookworm #leseglede #lesetips #nrklesetips #boktips #bookish #instabook #bookstagram #litteratur #literature #bookporn #superhero #jonmorris #theleagueofregrettablesuperheroes #lootcrate #comics #comicbooks #tegneserie In celebration of being completely done with this year's Christmas shopping: here is an unrelated shelfie. I'm not actually giving away any books this year. I know. It's sad.

I've seen this book around for a while, and finally decided to pick it up - even though it seems to be slightly outside what I usually read. The Wrath & The Dawn by Renée Ahdieh. Have you read it? What did you think?

Every Anxious Wave by Mo Daviau. It's being described as "High fidelity with time travel". I was intrigued.

Here's the publisher's description: Good guy Karl Bender is a thirty-something bar owner whose life lacks love and meaning. When he stumbles upon a time-travelling worm hole in his closet, Karl and his best friend Wayne develop a side business selling access to people who want to travel back in time to listen to their favorite bands. It's a pretty ingenious plan, until Karl, intending to send Wayne to 1980, transports him back to 980 instead. Though Wayne sends texts extolling the quality of life in tenth century "Mannahatta," Karl is distraught that he can't bring his friend back.

Enter brilliant, prickly, overweight astrophysicist, Lena Geduldig. Karl and Lena's connection is immediate. While they work on getting Wayne back, Karl and Lena fall in love -- with time travel, and each other. Unable to resist meddling with the past, Karl and Lena bounce around time. When Lena ultimately prevents her own long-ago rape, she alters the course of her life and threatens her future with Karl.

I've not posted for a couple of weeks, and the main reason for that is that I'm doing #NaNoWriMo this year. If you don't know what that is: November is the month when thousands of people set out to write a novel (each...). 50000 words in 30 days. 1667 words a day.

I have hit the halfway mark (25000 words) a couple of days early, and have only failed to hit the daily minimum once. I'm vaguely optimistic that I might in fact get through this madness. 👍I can assure you that I have made a few of the mistakes listed in the book in the picture though!

Tarjei Vesaas is of course also one of Norway's greatest authors, probably the most famous for his novel Is-slottet (The Ice Palace). The Black Horses, as seen in the photo, was first published in 1928.

It's a somewhat weird novella about a guy talking about a particular author and the books she has written. I'm not entirely sure what to say about it.
