In the future, in a world destroyed by the harsh sun, there are those who live in luxury inside the walled Enclave, and those, like sixteen-year-old Gaia Stone, who live outside – struggling to survive. Each month the people outside the wall must deliver a quota of babies to the Enclave, to be raised by parents within and brainwashed to forget about the world outside. This is the way it’s always been, and the way Gaia thinks it should be . . . until her parents are arrested on suspicion of hiding a code; a code revealing the secret of the «advanced» babies. Realising she is her parents’ only hope for survival, Gaia ventures inside the wall to rescue them. But she soon discovers that the Enclave is not as perfect as it appears; the gene pool has become too small and genetic irregularities are developing – something the brutal government wants to stop. At any cost. Can Gaia break the code and discover the truth, before it’s too late?

The last wisp of hope that her mother would be there to greet her evaporated. Instead, a man straightened from beside the fireplace, and she instantly took in the black of his uniform and the rifle along his back. Candlelight illuminated the undersides of his jaw and the wide, flat brim of his hat, leaving his eyes in shadow.
«Gaia Stone?» he asked. «I’m Sergeant Gray and I’d like to ask you a few questions.»

When I'm in a bit of a reading slump, I find it helps to read YA, a type of literature I otherwise don’t read that much anymore. Currently reading The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon.

Salinger. Now is a good a time as any. From what I understand, people either love or hate the protagonist. Have you read it? What do you think?

At the moment I'm slowly working my way through the massive brick that is "It". #book #books #bøker #litteratur #literature #bookstagram #instabook #bookish #lesetips #nrklesetips #boktips #summer #bookhaul #reading #currentlyreading #stephenking #it #pennywise #horror #skrekk The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath is one of my favourite novels, and it was about time I got my hands on a collection of her poetry.

I quite like it so far!

It's a quirky story about a neat and tidy guy living in a neat and tidy place. Life is perfectly predictable until his beard starts growing. And growing. And growing... I quite liked it - not a new fave of mine, but an enjoyable read nonetheless.
