The Broke and the Bookish.

1. All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others
- Animal Farm av George Orwell
3. Of course this is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows av JK Rowling
4. As he looked at the woman in her characteristic attitude, her thick arms reaching up for the line, her powerful mare-like buttocks protruded, it struck him for the first time that she was beautiful. It had never before occured to him that the body of a woman of fifty, blown up to monstrous dimensions by childbearing, then hardened, roughened by work till it was course in the grain like an over-ripe turnip, could be beautiful. But it was so, and after all, he thought, why not?
- 1984 av George Orwell
5. He starts to tire, and tells himself that he doesn’t care where she is. She’s like mildew that has invaded his life. She’s the kind of mold that wouldn’t have appeared if he lived austerely, the kind that breeds only in the dark, neglected corners of a building. She has infected his life, not caring what he wants. He hates himself for trudging through the snow looking for a woman who was having sex with his brother on the day their mother was buried. Seriously, I don’t want to know where she is or whether she’s dead or alive. Still, even as he thinks this, he advances, putting one foot in front of the other.
- I Have the Right to Destroy Myself av Young-Ha Kim
6. The ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don’t.
- The Ultimate Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy av Douglas Adams
7. ‘Love’, this English word: like other English words it has tense. ‘Loved’ or ‘will love’ or ‘have loved’. All these specific tenses mean Love is time-limited thing. Not infinite. It only exists in particular period of time. In Chinese, Love is ‘爱’ (ai). It has no tense. No past and future. Love in Chinese means a being, a situation, a circumstance. Love is existence, holding past and future. If our love existed in Chinese tense, then it will last for ever. It will be infinite.
- A Concise Chinese-English Dictionary for Lovers – Xiaolu Guo
8. In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry, and has been widely regarded as a bad idea.
- The Ultimate Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy av Douglas Adams
9. I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
- The Fellowship of the Ring av JRR Tolkien
10. It takes much bravery to stand up to our enemies but we need as much bravery to stand up to our friends.
- Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone av JK Rowling

The Broke and the Bookish sine tidligere lister.
Takk for tipset
